Delhi Football League Competition Review

The Delhi Football League is the top tier of football in the National Capital.

The Delhi Football League is Organised by Football Delhi as a Ladder-based State Football Competition Involving a Total of Four Divisions and Over 80 Teams in the Indian State of Delhi. Delhi Premier League is the Top-division, Started in 1948 as DSA Senior Division.

Delhi Premier League, Previously Known as Football Delhi Senior Division League and DSA Senior Division is the Top State-level Football League in Delhi and Level 4 of the Indian Football League System. It is also the Highest Level Inter-city League Played in the Capital. The competition is conducted by Football Delhi, the Official Governing Body of the Delhi Region Under AIFF. Most Players From This League Are Selected to Represent Delhi in Santosh Trophy.

Delhi Football League Format:

The tournament played on a League basis in the following format:

First Round (Preliminary Round)

Depending upon the entries received, teams shall be divided into two (2) groups possibly with the equal number of teams in each group.

First Round (Preliminary Round) will be played on a single leg league basis in a round-robin format.

The top five (5) teams from each group at the end of the First Round (Preliminary Round) shall qualify for the Final Round (Premier League) & bottom two (2) teams from each group of First Round (Preliminary Round) will play in the Relegation Round

Final Round (Premier League)

The top five (5) teams from each group shall qualify for the Final Round (Premier League).

The Final Round (Premier League) will be played on a single leg league basis in a round-robin format where the winner will be decided on the basis of the highest points earned during the Final Round.

The team that is placed at the first position after all matches are conducted shall be declared the winner of the Football Delhi Senior Division League.

The team that is placed at the second position after all matches are conducted shall be declared the runner-up of the Football Delhi Senior Division League.

Teams placed third & fourth position after all matches are conducted shall be declared third & fourth position teams of the Football Delhi Senior Division League.

Relegation Round

The bottom (2) teams from each group of the First Round (Preliminary Round) shall take part in the Relegation Round.

The relegation Round will be played on a single-leg league basis in a round-robin format.

Teams that are placed in the bottom i.e. third & fourth position after all matches are conducted in the Relegation Round will be relegated to ‘A’ Division League.

Teams that are not participating or withdrawing before or during Football Delhi Senior Division League 2021/2022 will be relegated automatically to ‘A’ Division League. The matter will be forwarded to FD Disciplinary Committee for further necessary actions.
